SVLAC Foaling Services

Now accepting foaling reservations.

SVLAC offers foaling services to clients who cannot or prefer not to have their mares foal at home. We welcome a limited number of mares each foaling season.

Our foaling services include full board, 24-hour observation before and after foaling, Foalert monitoring, and expert medical supervision of the delivery. We are also available to accommodate re-breeding.

Facilities
• Large (12' x 16') video-monitored foaling stalls.
• Experienced veterinary technicians and DVMs personally attend to each birth.
• Should any medical emergencies arise, we have a full complement of diagnostic, surgical and medical equipment within steps of the foaling stalls.

Pre-Foaling Monitoring and Maintenance
• We offer individual attention regarding feeding and special needs for your mare, whether it be feed supplements, medications or an injury or lameness that needs tending to.
• 24 hour video monitoring is available so we’re able to observe your mare without disturbing her.

Foaling Process
• Attended delivery by experienced medical professionals.
• Umbilical cord care.
• On-call veterinary assistance if required.

After Foaling Follow-Up
• Mare and foal veterinary exam.
• E-coli, enema and IgG test.
• Umbilical cord care.
• Monitoring for immediate post foaling complications for both mare and foal.

Rebreeding Options
• Our expert theriogenology team can personally manage your mare’s rebreed.
• If your mare is going to be rebred to one of the stallions standing at the Intermountain Equine Reproduction Center, she qualifies for a $100 discount on foaling services.

Mare Requirements
• Vaccination record (EWT, WN: one month before foal date; Rhino vaccines given the 5th, 7th and 9th month of pregnancy).
• Record of deworming four weeks prior to foaling.

When to Bring Your Mare
• Your mare should arrive 7-14 days prior to foaling.
• Upon a successful delivery, your mare and foal should be able to travel home within a few days of birth.

Pricing
• We have a variety of pricing structures available starting as low as $485.00 plus board and any optional services requested. We can customize a plan to suit your mare’s individual needs.

Reservations
• Foaling stalls are subject to availability, so be sure to plan ahead. We understand, however, that emergencies and unplanned events do occur. So, provided space is available, we will do our best to take in an expectant mare on short notice.
